All Canadian Universities recognized by the government that provides degree-level education in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy are also recognized and approved by the CPCA.

If you are unsure and are looking for counselling education that will be eligible for CPCA membership and the Institution is not listed above, contact the CPCA Registrar (registrar@thecpca.ca) to ask about a particular Educational Program and confirm whether the program is eligible for CPCA membership.
If the Counselling program is outside Canada, then upon application the education will require a WES assessment.
To become a CPCA Approved Counselling Education Program, it has been verified that their program teaches all of the CPCA Counselling Core Competencies for an individual to meet all entry-to-practice competencies to become a clinical counsellor.
These core competencies include:
